After more than 50 years of conflicts between Israel and Palestinian territories, then the mediation work which has been done by the United Nations, the USA and the European Union, Israel keeps trying to get more and more Palestinian territories by demolishing structures in the occupied territories
A press conference of the NGO Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) took place on the 4th of December to share the situation in Palestine and their involvement for the Palestinian population. IPSC is an independent formed of volunteers who are involved to help the Palestinian population in this difficult region of the world. Israel and Palestine were supposed to divide their territory in half, but in reality, Palestine represents 22% of the territory including the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, while Israel is trying to occupy more lands by demolishing houses and structures. Betty Purcell, the head of communications of IPSC, reminds us that these settlements are systematically carried out against the Palestinian population: their homes and fields have been destroyed by bulldozers of the Israeli army Tsahal.

These operations are carried out under the most diverse motives and the pretexts are a necessity for Israel’s military security, and most of the time, the reason is a lack of building permit according to Purcell. The IPSC is consequently mobilising in operations to help to rebuild the demolished houses and to rehouse the Palestinians who have been robbed.
The organisation also intervenes to encourage and support the Palestinian people to guarantee the freedom of Palestinian workers to travel to Israeli territory, since many of them work in the Israeli part and are forced to face daily difficulties in accessing their workplaces. It can take several hours to travel a few kilometres because the checkpoints are complicated to cross for Palestinians. IPSC is currently supporting a person who started a hunger strike while he has been illegally held in prison. This Palestinian man is going out of jail very soon, a great news for the volunteers who have chosen to support people individually.
Only time will tell.
