With sanitary confinement, home deliveries, online work, streaming series, e-shopping, it would seem that the bedroom has become the new Eldorado and that the new way of life is practiced in lying down mode.
Is the man who, in the course of his slow prehistoric evolution, took several millennia to move from the crawling position to the upright position, in just a few months of Covid-19 crisis, now in the process of returning to the horizontal position?
All the studies that track future trends seem formal: the future will soon no longer belong to those who get up early to leave home and go to work, but to those who no longer get up at all. The “bed generation” has arrived, the one who sleeps on the couch while eating yoghurt delivered to their home and who between two streaming series goes to work in their bed.
No more going out of the house and finally a bit risky: taking public transport, going to the pub, crowding into food shops or queuing in front of your favourite shop selling fine drinks.

It must be said that these new behaviours carry the massive pleasure and support of the new economy: watching Netflix programmes, buying online on Amazon, eating through Uber-Eat, chatting on Facebook, working on Zoom with one’s Mac, toasting virtually on Skype …. The cyber-economy could not have dreamt of anything better and the stock market prices of all its companies are there to confirm it. Long live couch potatoes!
The fact remains that the prolonged practice of lying down is not without risk: backache is on the horizon, obesity, depression, bedsores, mites and fleas attracted by crumbs in the bed, constipation problems linked to long-lasting horizontality… No doubt: Dermatologists, psychologists, nutritionists and physiotherapists are professions of the future.
Students should think about this before choosing the direction of your future studies… online, of course!

I wonder if we could go back to 2019 and put this corona virus behind us all…..🙄🙄
